Earlier today, while trying to add some TinyURL links to my Twitter profile, I noticed I had no access to the site. The famous little bird did not appear at all. Even when the system is busy or when a user’s account is no longer accesible due to violations, a bird appears and a message says says “to move along.” Well, this morning, there was none of that.
About an hour ago, Twitter posted the following message on its status page: We are defending against a denial-of-service attack, and will update status again shortly [http://status.twitter.com].
Update: A recent update of the previous message says the site is accesible, but you may see another message like “Twitter is over capacity. Too many tweets! Please wait a moment and try again,” or you will still see nothing at all.
Update 2: It seems like Twitter is almost back to normal. I started receiving messages from other users and getting access to the service.
