- Games & Lineup
At today’s Nintendo Wii U Preview Event, the company revealed many details about its upcoming console and the game lineup for the first few months. Now that we know for sure the console will be launched in November 18 in the US and in November 30 in Europe, we can also start going to GameStop (and I guess to others stores, too; idk yet) to pre-order the console. But if you are undecided, perhaps you should consider the following.
The two models
Basic (white): The console, 1 GamePad, AC adapters (one for console & one for controller), sensnor bar, HDMI cable, 8GB on-board memory. Price: $299.99.
Deluxe Set (black): With exception of the 8GB on-board memory, which will be a 32GB one in this Deluxe Set, everything else from Basic, plus a charging cradle, a console stand, NintendoLand game, Deluxe Digital Promotion. Price: $349.99.
My thoughts: Get the Deluxe Set. More value for the buck. Though it costs more than the current prices of competing current consoles, its hardware and Game Pad seems like are really worth the price. But about price, I wonder how much will it cost to buy a Wii U Game Pad sold separately if whenever, but IGN says Nintendo will not be selling them sold separately once the console is available. And, when did I hear Deluxe Set before? In my mind, I’m going back to the 80s when the NES was king. The Deluxe Set I think about is the one big NES box with R.O.B.
Nintendo TVii
It’s many of the online entertainment services we know and love built-in into one big app. With Netflix, Hulu, YouTube and other serivces, you could search for info about a TV show, and either watch that show’s previous episodes on one service, or watch it live with your cable/satellite TV provider from the TVii. What’s great is if someone else is watching TV, you can still play games or watching online videos on the Wii U’s GamePad.
My thoughts: The apps in the Xbox 360 and PS3 are not built-in into the system’s interface, nor you can change the channels with your current consoles. Nintendo is transforming what it knows as a gaming console into a real entertainment device, the likes of Xbox Live mixed with other services, but with more things to do, and even with a social aspect. Perhaps Microsoft and Sony are working on a similar plan for their next-generation consoles.
Game controller
The Wii U Pro Controller now has a retail price. For $49.99, it will be available on launch day, and up to four Pro Controller and Wii Remotes can work with the Wii U. Sounds right for such a controller.
Games
Nintendo demonstrated diverse titles for the console with the presence of two games, and it hasn’t forgotten about us hardcore gamers. Call of Duty Black Ops II was one of the titles (and one I think I should get for the Wii U), and it looks like a great, new way to play an awesome franchise.
Bayonetta 2 as a Wii U-exclusive is one way of saying hardcore gamers we’re thinking of you guys, too. Though my suspicions says there will eventually be a release for other consoles, perhaps the Game Pad factor will make fans think twice about the interactivity factor of the tablet. I still want to see more of the game, though.
