[EN]: Even before Xbox Live was born (on November 2002), there was already a web site using the URL that Microsoft is currently demanding: XboxOne.com.
While looking through the web archives at Archive.org, I noticed there was already a site that used the same web address Microsoft wants. And unlike Microsoft, the owner of the site and URL back then knew how to abbreviate the name of the site correctly: X-Box.1 (unlike #XBONE, that is mostly seen or read as #X-Bone).
That site seems to have been active since October 5, 2002, until weeks or months after the week of January 17, 2011. So, it isn’t like someone bought the URL in question right after the company in Redmond announced it. Here’s the Archive.org links leading to the old XboxOne.com site: [http://web.archive.org/web/20021115000000*/http://xboxone.com/].
The first owner of the domain, it seems, no longer had a purpose for it before the end of 2011. Someone else got the XboxOne.com during late December 2011 along with XboxOne.net.
Now, according to Fusible.com, Microsoft wants XboxOne.com and XboxOne.net. The current owner of both URLs resides in the UK.
Will Microsoft get both URLs soon? It would be harder for MS if the person who had the URL back in 2002 still owned them both, but let’s see what the National Arbitration Forum [http://domains.adrforum.com] thinks about this. Currently, both URLs the company want are parked on GoDaddy.com.
