[EN]: Earlier this week, we found out the Xbox One consoles will be forced to get connected once every 24 hours for gamers to enjoy playing their library of game titles. At least, there is no mandatory internet checkup for us to play our PS3 and Xbox 360 titles, but Chloe Dykstra at Reddit Games asked one important question that deserves a very detailed response:
After the Xbox One servers are shut down at the end of the new generation, will Xbox One games still be playable?
Major Nelson responded by saying:
I’ll just say this: We haven’t even started this generation, so it’s kind of early to talk about the end of the generation. That’s certainly something we would not do. That’s not the way the system is designed. It’s designed for flexibility. But let’s get the system out there first.
Doubts come at a time when we are not completely informed. So, how sure should we be that we would still be able to play our XBox One titles after having being released in five or ten or fifteen years from now, like we do with our games on the NES, Genesis, PlayStation 1, the first Xbox, Wii and also with services like Steam that do not required an internet checkup to play our PC titles?
