Earlier today, Sega of America & Sega Europe announced the arrival of 3D versions of Sega Genesis and Sega Master System classics to the Nintendo 3DS. If you remember the 16-bit generation of games, you should have played the original versions of Sonic the Hedgehog and Streets of Rage, two great titles. Each of the titles will cost $5.99/€4.99/£4.49.

“These games were completely re-built to offer a robust 3D experience that offers more modern gameplay while still keeping true to the original. We look forward to bringing these classic SEGA titles to Nintendo 3DS for fans – both old and new,” ” said John Cheng, President and COO at SEGA of America.

I remember how cool if was to play Streets of Rage and its sequels when the side-scrolling fighting games were all the rage then, thanks to titles such as Final Fight and Double Dragon at the arcades and consoles. Something else that comes to mind is Altered Beast; it was the game included with the Sega Genesis console.

I know which classic games I want to play. How about you all?
