The Nintendo 3DS has had a very successful year in terms of software and hardware sales. The Japanese company released today the following info about its portable gaming device:

  • Over 16 million games (in digital and physical format) for the 3DS (over 45% more sales than in 2012).
  • Over 11.5 million 3DS consoles sold, including the 2DS and 3DS XL, since its launch.
  • Seven games on sale in 2013 got a score of 85 or above on Metacritic, including two fantastic games: The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds & Fire Emblem Awakening.

How is the company going to continue with its success? With titles such as Yoshi’s New Island (March 14), Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy (Feb. 28), Disney Magical World (April 11), Bravely Default (by Square Enix), and Super Smash Bros. for the 3DS & Wii U (the one most hardcore gamers are looking forward to on the portable device).
