The best news in a while for all fans of the Star Wars franchise. The number 7 seems to bring more than just luck to fans. The upcoming Star Wars film will be the key uniting a new generation of characters with the ones we fans got to see a long time ago… in a galaxy far, far away.

Earlier today, the official announcement was made of the new actors (John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow) who will appear in the seventh film along with the original cast (Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker).

Director J.J. Abrams said, according to the post: “We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud.”

Production is set to begin in May 2014, with an expected movie release of December 18, 2015.
