Twitch has become an important and attractive service for gamers to stream their gameplay experiences online, one that has caught the attention of Google’s YouTube. According to sources today, YouTube has completed a deal to buy Twitch for $1 billion.
The service has gained popularity for allowing gamers share gameplay experiences, even more so in this next-generation of gaming via the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.
The Variety report states YouTube has plans in case U.S. regulators wants to put a stop to the deal due to anti-competitiveness. In the world of online video, YouTube is number one video platform, while Twitch already consumes 1.35% of all downstream bandwidth in North America and is #1 in game streaming services; its closest rival is Major League Gaming.
