The Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame announced this past Thursday the names of the newest five inductees, including anime director Hayao Miyazaki. The rest of the inductees include film director Stanley Kubrick, author Olaf Stapledon, author Leigh Brackett, and artist Frank Frazetta.
Hayao Miyazaki started his career in 1963 working for Toei Animation. In 1979, he directed his first film The Castle of Cagliostro, followed by many other films. In the late 1990s, he received international attention with the animated film Princess Mononoke. Miyazaki’s anime film Spirited Away won an Oscar for Best Animated Feature in 2002.
