This past Thursday in Japan, the Agency for Cultural Affairs announced the names of the winners in various categories for the 2014 “Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Fine Arts Recommendation Awards” and selected Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto as the winner of the ‘Rookie of the Year’ award in the category of media fine arts for his work on the manga.
For Kishimoto, the award comes at the right time as his manga came to an end last November after fifteen years on Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine.
The agency’s awards ceremony will take place at the Toshi Center Hotel on Wednesday, March 18 at 4 PM local time.
