Capcom’s Mega Man franchise will return to the small screen as a new animated TV show, according to Capcom and Deadline.com. Dentsu Entertainment USA selected Man of Action Entertainment to develop all 26 episodes of the fighting robot for a worldwide release. Both companies are planning on a 2017 release, to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Mega Man.
Though Capcom has not released official sequels as of late of Mega Man, fans of the franchise have seen him in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS.
This is not the first time Capcom will see its robot hero on TV. A Mega Man animated TV series aired back in the 1990s in the U.S. and other countries.
“We are very excited about the opportunity to introduce an all-new Mega Man to loyal fans and kids,” said Yuichi Kinoshita, President and Chief Executive Officer at Dentsu Entertainment USA. “Having a celebrated character from Japan reimagined by Man Of Action is the ideal project for Dentsu Entertainment USA.”
