Without sharing any specific details for the motive, EA has decided to rename “Origin Account” to “EA Account,” dropping the name of its current online distribution service specifically for login purposes “to better represent all of EA’s games and services.” With the name change, shorter and similar to the name of previous services (EA Downloader, EA Link, EA Store and EA Download Manager), there won’t be a need to do anything. Many users, though not everybody, have started receiving emails about the changes.
Jonathan Blow, a game designer formerly at The Braid, was one who shared the message via Twitter:

EA also shared a post on its site about the upcoming change:
Your Origin Account is now your EA Account
Origin Accounts are now called EA Accounts. This is a simple name change; you don’t have to do a thing.
Your Account for everything EA.
Continue logging in to your EA Account with the same information you always use. You won’t notice any changes in your experience other than updates to the name and logo on login windows.
Manage your EA Account at ea.com. Log in and click your ID then My Account to edit your ID, password, payment, shipping, privacy, and security settings.
If you have an Origin account and have not received an email from EA, just keep waiting for one to arrive to your associated email with the service.
