Via its Kickstarter page earlier today, Harmonix announced it will delay the launch of Amplitude to the end of 2015. The post gives lots of good news, especially the content the developers want to add to make the title even more attractive.

“Our previous target for shipping the game was this summer. Now that we’ve committed to this expanded scope, though, we won’t be able to complete and ship the game until the end of this year on PS4 (with the PS3 version coming shortly thereafter),” said Alex Rigopulos at Harmonix.

The backers who contributed and got early access will be the first group of gamers enjoying the title in December 2015. All others will get the game for PS4 in January 2016, followed by the PS3 version some time later.

It may be a disappointment to fans who have loved the original title, but hopefully it will be worth it once it gets launched.

What will be included in Amplitude? As seen in the recent update on Harmonix’s Kickstarter page:

  • 30 songs (14 more songs than originally mentioned); one more song for certain backers.
  • Two more playable environments: solo campaign, solo free play, 2-4 player “free-for-all”, and an all-new team play mode (1v3, 2v2).
  • The addition of Leaderboards.
