It turns out the title many gamers were waiting for from Blizzard will cost more than just a penny as it was announced today Overwatch won’t be free and won’t offer PC-console crossplay.
The upcoming Blizzard title will cost $40 for gamers who choose to play the base version on PC, and $60 for the special Origins edition on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Both versions will include 21 heroes.
Also, during Blizzcon, game director Jeff Kaplan said that though the game will offer “full integration with Xbox Live and PlayStation Network,” it won’t offer the PC-console crossplay fans had been waiting for.
Kaplan added: “When we started to make Overwatch, it was our goal from day one to have this game playable on console.” Unlike some PC titles that are not console controller-friendly, this game’s design has been made to satisfy the needs of both console and PC gamers. He added that “designing the game, so it felt great on a console controller almost put this forced design elegance on us.”
Blizzard also has no plans to bring the game to Mac computers.
