Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson announced today EA is launching its eSports division, with Peter Moore in charge.
Under his new role, Moore becomes the Executive VP and Chief Competition Officer responsible for the EA Competitive Gaming Division, the company’s newest branch. Because of Moore’s prior leadership experience in competitive gaming for such projects like the FIFA Interactive World Cup and the EA Sports Challenge Series, Wilson said “there is no one better in our industry to lead this new effort than Peter.”
Joining Peter Moore in the new eSports division will be Todd Sitrin in the role of Senior Vice President and GM of the CGD. According to Wilson, “Todd will lead strategy and operations for the CGD, working closely with our development studios to create an exciting competitive platform in our games.”
Moore will not start on his new role under the end of the current financial year to switch to his new job.
More details about the CGD will be announced in the upcoming months.
