In Japan, many games get to have a comic book or manga version, as well as their own cartoon or anime ones. But, how many games get to have their own “play”? I’m not referring to games, but to theatrical plays, of course. Capcom and the Takarazuka Revue Company have reached an agreement in order to work on theatrical performances of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (known in Japan as Gyakuten Saiban Yomigaeru Gyakuten – 逆転裁判 蘇る逆転). Takarazuka is one of the best-known theater groups in Japan and especially because of its wide variety of outstanding performances. The Phoenix Wright games have been very successful in Japan (I even have the last one: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations; it’s one of the few Nintendo DS games I have – though I’ve played many more -, and one of the NDS games I’ve enjoyed a lot). The main character will have its English name, and music from the game will be featured in the play. According to the scriptwriter and director Suzuki Kei, the story takes place in the US and there will be “a love romance something that does not exist in the game.”

En Japón, varios juegos llegan a tener su versión tira cómica o manga, al igual que la de sus propios dibujos animados o anime. Pero, ¿cuántos juegos llegan a tener su propio “play”? No me refiero a los juegos, sino a las obras teatrales (theatrical plays), por supuesto. Capcom y la Takarazuka Revue Company han llegado a un acuerdo para realizar obras teatrales de Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (conocido en Japón como Gyakuten Saiban Yomigaeru Gyakuten – 逆転裁判 蘇る逆転). Takarazuka es uno de los grupos teatrales mejor conocidos en Japón especialmente por su amplia variedad de obras destacadas. Los juegos Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney han sido muy exitosos en Japón (hasta tengo el último Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations; es uno de los pocos juegos Nintendo DS que tengo – aunque he jugado varios más – , y uno de los juegos NDS que he disfrutado bastante). El personaje principal llevará su nombre en inglés, y la música del jeugo será presentada en la obra. De acuerdo al guionista y director Suzuki Kei, el cuento ocurre en los Estados Unidos y habrá “un romance amoroso que no existe en el juego”.
