No, I did not make a mistake when spelling it. It’s the actual name given by a phone maker Haff-comm in China to its new model. Even though both names sound alike, they are not technically the same. The Blockberry features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections along with a GPS navigation system and can be used on 3G and Edge networks. The main difference can be seen in the operating systems they both use. The Blockberry comes with Windows Mobile 6.1 and a 460 MHZ processor, while the Blackberry has its own OS.

Besides the technical info, you should be asking yourself now why is the President of the US in the advertisement.It seems everyone knows Obama loves his Blackberry. Haff-comm was brave enough to put his picture on it. For the ones  who do not speak Chinese (including me but I’m willing to learn it), the main sentence in the ad say: “Obama has Blackberry, I have Blockberry.” Will Haff-com succeed?

No, no hice algún error cuando lo deletreé. Es el verdadero nombre dado de parte del fabricante de teléfonos Haff-comm en China a su nuevo modelo. Aunque los dos nombres se parece, no son iguales técnicamente. El Blockberry ofrece conexiones Wi-Fi y Bluetooth junto con un sistema de navegación GPS y puede ser unsado en las redes 3G y Edge. Se puede ver la diferencia principal en los sistemas operativos que se usan. El Blockberry viene con Windows Mobile 6.1 y in procesador de 460 MHz, mientras que el Blackberry tiene su propio sistema operativo.

Aparte de la información técnica, ustedes deben preguntarse por qué está el presidente de los Estados Unidos en el anuncio. Parece que todos saben que a Obama le encanta su Blackberry. Haff-comm fue lo suficientemente valiente para colocar su foto en eso. Para aquellos que no hablan chino (incluyendo a mí pero estoy dispuesto a aprenderlo), la oración principal en el anuncio dice: “Obama tiene Blackberry, yo tengo Blockberry”. ¿Tendrá éxito Haff-comm?
