Along with Electronic Gaming Monthly, GamePro has been one of the earliest magazines devoted to videogames. Since the late 1980s, it was usual to see gamers stopping at an Electronics Boutique store or at a GameStop one and read the latest news about the electronic entertainment industry. I’ve collected some of the first issues and others of the old GamePro magazines. Today, I do feel sad about the closing of GamePro here in the US.
“Thank you for your loyalty, support, and participation in the GamePro.com community. At noon on December 5, 2011, the U.S. version of GamePro online will shut down as an independent site. GamePro will become part of PCWorld.com (https://www.pcworld.com/gamepro) offering gaming news, reviews, and how-tos from the PCWorld team. Thank you to the entire GamePro staff for their hard work and dedication.”
According to Kotaku AU, IDG Games is closing GamePro the magazine ” due to insufficient advertising revenue to support the business.”
If EGM made it back as a monthly magazine, maybe we could see a new GamePro in the near future or not-so-near future. For now, ¡adiós, GamePro (US), the magazine! Thanks for the memories.

Junto con Electronic Gaming Monthly, GamePro ha sido una de las primeras revistas dedicadas a los videojuegos. Desde finales de 1980, era habitual ver a los jugadores parando por una tienda Boutique Electronics Boutique o un GameStop a leer de las últimas noticias sobre la industria del entretenimiento electrónico. He coleccionado algunos de los primeros ejemplares y otros antes de las viejas revistas de GamePro. Hoy en día, me siento triste por el cierre de GamePro aquí en los EE.UU.
