According to the Wall Street Journal, the interactive division of Disney will go through another round of lay offs starting this Wednesday when the company’s quarterly results get to be released.
With the acquisition of Marvel and Star Wars, Disney also has brought the closure of Lucasarts (the former game publisher) and Junction Point (ex-game developer for Epic Mickey). Now, Disney’s social gaming company, Playdom, will be affected this time around.
The layoffs will not stop the work on Infinity, a franchise based on a videogame and a toys line which primarily competes with Activision’s Skylanders. Disney will include characters from the Star Wars and Marvel franchises into its next Infinity title.
