The demise of the PlayStation Home, Sony’s version of the virtual community Second Life, will be coming to an end next year to Japan and the rest of Asia.
According to a post on its site, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia (SCEJA) announced the closure of the free service at the end of March 2015 and the end of purchases of in-game content on September 24, 2014.
Fortunately, players in North America and Europe will not be affected. “PS Home will only terminate in Japan and Asian regions/countries,” a Sony PlayStation representative told Game Informer. “PS Home in SCEA and SCEE operates independently, so this announcement does not apply to the service in those territories.”
The original post in PlayStation.jp also mentions SCEE and SCEA are excluded from the closure.
