Today’s Nintendo Direct Japan showed many interesting trailers this morning. From the upcoming Fire Emblem If to Project Treasure to Monster Hunter X Cross, it was fun seeing what’s coming up soon (at least in Japan). Fans of Monster Hunter, a big franchise in Japan, may already be excited about the upcoming Monster Hunter X Cross coming this Winter 2015 only in Japan. And there are many more games to take a look at in this 31-minute video.
Among other games announced: the return of Chibi-Robo in a brand-new 3DS game, Mario and Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Yoshis that look like other Nintendo characters using amiibos in Yoshi’s Woolly World (announced a few days ago), Famicom Remix, Super Robot Wars BX, Dr. Mario, Monster Hunter Diary: Poka Poka Airu Village DX (originally released on the PlayStation Portable).
What was unexpected was the absence of Satoru Iwata, the Nintendo president, in today’s Nintendo Direct broadcast. Iwata will not be attending the Electronic Entertainment Expo once again this year. After the broadcast, he apologized via Twitter for his absence and for the lack of amiibos. The following tweets were translated by Twitter user Cheesemeister3k.
.@Nintendo Iwata: Some asked if I'm retiring from ND. This 55-year-old guy won't be presenting all the time, but will appear in the future.

.@Nintendo Iwata: We apologize for amiibo being sold out. Additional manufacturing takes time, and more are being produced.
