To bring confidence to fans, Lego Dimensions will offer additional content for the next three years at least (including characters and levels), a producer from TT Games said during EGX 2015.
TT Games is entering the competition against other brands that are bringing toys into gamers’ consoles and PCs such as Activision (with Skylanders), Disney (with Infinity), and Nintendo (with Amiibo toys for multiple games).
“We have a three year plan at the moment and we’ve got no intention of stopping there,” Mark Warburton, associate producer at TT Games, told Eurogamer during a developer interview at EGX.
“We’ve created the technology to the degree that we’re happy it meets our needs for the future. We’ve created the toy pad so that it shouldn’t need to be updated. And we can just create new level and character packs to keep expanding that,” he continued.
TT Games is not alone in this game of capturing an audience interested in collecting toys. With the presence of characters from various cartoons and films (The Simpsons, Batman, Lord of the Rings, Ghostbusters, and more), TT Games could attract many users.
For interested gamers, the starter package includes Batman, Wyldstyle (The Lego Movie) and Gandalf (Lord of the Rings), while the first wave comes with The Simpsons, Back to the Future, and others.
