Today, SK Hynix has launched its newest lineup of consumer products with the release of the Gold S31 (SATA III 1st Generation) SSD. Also known as the SuperCore series, this debut marks the return of the company into consumer-oriented internal drives.
Many consumers may be unfamiliar with the South Korean company as it supplies products such as dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) chips, flash memory chips and CMOS image sensors to various tech companies such as HP, Asus, IBM, Apple, Dell and many others. It ranks as the world’s second-largest memory chipmaker and the third-largest semiconductor company.
This time around, SK Hynix introduces the 2.5-inch Gold S31 SSD drive, based on 3D NAND Flash, available in 1TB, 500GB and 250GB capacities. They are currently on sale in the US via Amazon, however, the company will expand its drives to “other North American and European markets” starting next year.
