At a very technical presentation about the Sony PlayStation 5, system architect Mark Cerny revealed the console’s hardware specs for the first time.
Though the PS5 has many similarities with its rival Xbox Series X, there are some things that set each other apart.
It seems like Microsoft’s upcoming console has the advantage when it comes to the GPU teraflops (12 vs 10.3).
In terms of storage, Sony here doesn’t rely on proprietary devices like Microsoft does. The Storage Expansion Card, made by Seagate for Xbox Series X, will duplicate “the full speed and performance of the Series X’s internal storage.” Meanwhile, Sony will let fans purchase M.2 NVMe SSDs for their PS5 that will need to be certified for performance.
There are many more things to check out so make sure to see the specs and the post on EuroGamer.
