The official Twitter account for the Pokémon anime announced that part of the production of the anime has been temporarily delayed due to the coronavirus and the recently-declared state of emergency in Japan. Because of the unexpected temporary hiatus, repeats of Pokémon will be seen starting next week.
After the airing of the recent episode 22 of Pokémon in Japan, it is not clear when the series will return with new episodes. The team in charge of production will make an announcement about the new episodes at a later date.
“In an effort to create a safe environment for the show’s production as the number of novel coronavirus infections increases, and with the state of emergency declaration in effect, parts of the show’s production will go on temporary hiatus. As a result, Pocket Monsters will begin airing repeats starting with next week’s broadcast,” says a translation at PocketMonsters.net.
