The popular social network has launched its standalone Facebook Gaming app today. With the introduction of the app on Android devices due to the popularity of gaming, gamers are having one more choice as Facebook takes on the mobile competition against the likes of Mixer, YouTube, Twitch and others.
Facebook Gaming has already been a part of Facebook, letting streamers share their gameplay with others while letting fans take a look at their favorite stars and join groups, but not with a mobile app until today.
Players can also launch their Facebook-based games like Pokémon Tower Battle, Word Blitz, OMG, Nametests and others straight from the app.
Though the iOS version of the app is not out yet, curious fans may want to download the latest version of BlueStacks and get the app from Google Play. Facebook Gaming app for Android devices is now downloadable here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.facebook.games.
“Investing in gaming in general has become a priority for us because we see gaming as a form of entertainment that really connects people,” said Fidji Simo, head of the Facebook app, according to the New York Times. “It’s entertainment that’s not just a form of passive consumption but entertainment that is interactive and brings people together.”
