Pac-Man is celebrating its 40th anniversary today after Bandai Namco announced the iconic mascot is coming to Minecraft as a new DLC, along with Pac-Man Live Studio coming to Twitch, and to Nvidia Research to test a new AI model called GameGAN. The arrival of the arcade game Pac-Man surprised the world and brought people of all ages to the arcades back in 1980.
In Minecraft, Pac-Man will make a special appearance in an upcoming DLC. Bandai Namco says the DLC will let gamers have fun by playing 10 Pac-Man mazes. Users will also be able to build their own mazes and try out new features. The DLC is available now for US$7.99.
For Amazon Games, Bandai Namco announced Pac-Man Live Studio will let four players compete in one maze in “an all-out chomp-fest to see who will eat the most pellets and survive the stage.” Fans will also be able to create their own mazes to share them with family and friends. There will also be the option to buy the classic title.

With Nvidia, Pac-Man also became the test subject for Nvidia GameGAN, an artificial intelligence model created by Nvidia Research. GameGAN was able to recreate the game by itself “creating a fully functional version of Pac-Man,” without the use of a game engine.
For real fans of Pac-Man who miss playing with the actual arcade machine, there is also the special Tastemakers 40th Anniversary Arcade 1UP machine available via Arcade1Up.com for US$399.
