The official social media accounts of Anime Expo announced last Friday the “Anime Expo Lite” event will take place on July 3 and 4. The cancellation of Anime Expo 2020 on April 17 was one of many in the last few months due to the new coronavirus COVID-19 and this Lite event will take its place.
The link seen on the post leads to a page on the Anime Expo site that has yet to share info about Lite. Other than the new mentioned dates, there is no other info.
Seventeen days after the cancellation of Anime Expo 2020, Funimation announced on May 4 its own virtual convention called Funimation Con 2020 to take place on July 3 and 4.
Some fans in Facebook believe Anime Expo Lite will be an online event and want to know why did the Anime Expo organizers selected July 3 and 4, the same dates for Funimation Con 2020.
The tweet include logos for Bushiroad, Crunchyroll, Pony Canyon, and Viz Media.
