Via Xbox News, Microsoft announced it will include HDR and 2x the original framerate for Xbox, Xbox 360 and Xbox One titles into Xbox Series X backward compatibility.
“We are also creating whole new classes of innovations including the ability to double the frame rate of a select set of titles from 30 fps to 60 fps or 60 fps to 120 fps,” says the post by Jason Ronald, Director of Program Management for Xbox Series X.
The company is putting greater emphasis on the art of game preservation more than ever before. Certain Xbox 360 games can already work at 4K resolution on Xbox One. This time around, Microsoft wants to take its next-gen console into the next generation of backward compatibility.
“In addition to preserving the legacy of our loyal fans who have been with us since the beginning, we enable entirely new generations of gamers to play and enjoy the timeless games from our past while respecting and honoring their creators.”
