Due to protests against racial discrimination and police brutality in the US and abroad after the death of George Floyd, video game companies Valve and Electronic Arts have postponed their online events.
Valve had its Steam Game Festival: Summer Edition originally scheduled for June 9-14, but has changed the dates already on the event page. The online event will be from June 16 at 10am PT / 1pm ET to June 22 at 10am PT / 1pm ET.
Meanwhile, Electronic Arts posted a tweet about the postponement of EA Play Live. “With the important conversations taking place and important voices being heard around the world right now, we’re moving our time to come together in play. We’ll see you at EA PLAY Live 2020 on June 18 at 4pm PDT / 7pm EDT.”
EA was one of the first game companies earlier this week that announced its company-wide plans to fight against racial injustice.
