Shakedown: Hawaii, the sequel to Retro City Rampage, is coming to Wii and Wii U. Game developer Vblank Entertainment will release the game this summer for previous Nintendo consoles which will let gamers experience the feel of retro games. Both versions will come with updated content and features seen in versions for modern consoles.
Fans who love playing the 8-bit and 16-bit will have the choice of playing the game in 4:3.
The release of the game will depend on the region. On July 9, only 3000 physical copies of the game will be released for the Wii in PAL territories. That means, users in North America and other NTSC territories won’t be getting the Wii versions, either physically or digitally, because Nintendo also shut down the Wii Shop Channel last year.
However, the Wii U version will be available to users in North America sometime in August, along with the Steam version.
“The Wii version supports both 50hz and 60hz, and both NTSC and PAL output. It supports the Wii Remote (with shake!), Wii Classic Controller, Wii Classic Controller Pro, and GameCube Controller. I took special care to ensure it parallels the experience of the more powerful platforms, and further optimized it to fit entirely into the Wii system memory. This means that you won’t experience any disc load times during gameplay. Once the game boots, you’re in!”
“The Wii U version supports both SD and HD, 4:3 and 16:9. You can play it with the Wii U GamePad, Wii U Pro Controller, Wii Remote, Wii Classic Controller, or Wii Classic Controller Pro. It can be played entirely on the GamePad (with touch!), or on the TV from the comfort of your couch.”
According to the developer, Shakedown: Hawaii “had gone gold” and was ready for the big announcement, “but, then COVID-19 happened.”
