Star Wars actor Oscar Isaac has been cast to play the role of Solid Snake in Sony Pictures’ Metal Gear Solid film adaptation. It’s a surprise for fans who have played the many titles in the franchise.
Jordan Vogt-Roberts will direct the film. Joining him are Derek Connolly (script writer), Avi Arad (producer) and Peter Kang (executive producer).
The Metal Gear franchise created by Hideo Kojima and owned by Konami started in 1987 with the release of the Metal Gear game for MSX2 computers in Japan and certain parts of Europe.
The specific title gave birth to the stealth game genre, in which a players tries to keep the character undetected to infiltrate enemy bases and avoid confrontations.
However, the film will be based on the Metal Gear Solid game that was first released in 1998 for PlayStation 1. The MGS series is a very cinematic adventure.
It will take a while for the actor to get to work on this film. He’s already set to play roles in Dune, The Card Counter, Marvel’s Moon Knight, and in other films.
