Nintendo announced today Splatoon 3 will make its debut on September 9, 2022.
Along with the great news for fans, Nintendo shared a gameplay trailer featuring the classic 4-v-4 Turf War online mode. In that mode, two teams of four battle it out with the goal of covering the most ground in their ink.
The trailer also shows a new stage called Eeltail Alley and a new “bow-shaped weapon.”
Also new in Splatoon 3 is a single-player story mode and an enhanced version of the co-op Salmon Run mode.
“In the single-player story mode, you’ll join Agent 3 in a fight against the unruly Octarians and discover the secrets of a mysterious place called Alterna and the Fuzzy Ooze,” says the press release. “When diving into Salmon Run, you’ll ink up with teammates to fend off waves of dangerous Salmonid bosses, some of which are colossal in size!”
Also, current members of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack can download starting today the Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion DLC at no additional charge. Previously, users were only able to purchase this DLC separately.
Once available, Splatoon 3 will cost $59.99 USD. The game can now be pre-ordered at specific retailers, and digitally via the Nintendo eShop and the My Nintendo Store.
