Famitsu released the estimated Japan game console sales data for the week of May 16-22, 2022. According to the stats, three console models keep battling for third place, while Nintendo keeps the lead in console sales overall.
For the mentioned week, there were 64,839 Switch units overall sold along with just 256 New Nintendo 2DS LL units. In second place, 14,277 PS5 consoles and 20 PS4 consoles were sold. In third, 7,131 Xbox Series consoles got the attention of players in Japan.
In the stats for the previous week (May 9-15), Nintendo Switch Lite got third place with 9,011 units, however, Sony’s PS5 sold more units with 12,755 consoles sold in this recently reported week (May 16-22). With the PS5 in third place, the Switch Lite takes 4th place with 6,932 units sold compared to the 6,165 Xbox Series S units for Microsoft, a difference of 767 units.
