Famitsu recently reported the Japan game console sales for the week of August 15-21, 2022.
Nintendo continues to reign the console sales in Japan with 58,396 Switch consoles sold and 152 2DS units sold. Meanwhile, Sony is still holding on to second place with 15,655 PS5 consoles sold and 13 PS4 units sold. Microsoft remains in third place with 9,820 Xbox Series units sold.
What remains to be seen if the PS5 price increase in Japan starting on September 15 will affect console sales. Though there may be more purchases of PS5 consoles in the days and weeks prior to September 15, the new price may lead to smaller console sales once it takes effect.
Overall, the three main game companies sold 209,573 units during this mentioned week.
