Age of Empires II Definitive Edition is coming to Xbox

Microsoft announced today its popular RTS franchise is coming to Xbox with Age of Empires II Definitive Edition.

The announcement comes 25 years and 10 days after the first game in the franchise made its debut. The franchise overall has arrived on various consoles and platforms.

Age of Empires II Definitive Edition is coming to Xbox on January 31, 2023. Meanwhile, Age of Empires IV, which made its PC debut in 2021 and won Best Sim/Strategy Game at The Game Awards in the same year, will make its Xbox debut sometime after Age of Empires II Definitive Edition.

Fans of the franchise will be able to play the console version with a keyboard and mouse. In addition, there will be “optional crossplay between platforms, allowing you to play with your friends on Xbox and on PC.” It will also be playable via Xbox Cloud Gaming.
