The post-apocalyptic drama The Last of Us starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey has been officially renewed by HBO for season 2, the TV network announced.
The series has already become a huge success for HBO and HBO Max. The inaugural episode earlier in the month became the second-most watched series debut on HBO in the last ten years, and its total audience has now risen to 22 million viewers across its platforms.
The series has also gotten a 97% positive score on Rotten Tomatoes. For many people, the TV version based on the popular PlayStation franchise is already one of the best video game adaptations ever.
“I’m humbled, honored and frankly overwhelmed that so many people have tuned in and connected with our retelling of Joel and Ellie’s journey,” Executive Producer Neil Druckmann said. “The collaboration with Craig Mazin, our incredible cast and crew, and HBO exceeded my already high expectations. Now we have the absolute pleasure of being able to do it again with season two!”
The series has been renewed ahead of Sunday’s anticipated third episode.
