An anonymous ex-Game Informer employee has shared what they believe to be a ‘genuine goodbye’ on social media following the unexpected closure of the magazine last Friday after 33 years, a few hours before the closure of the X/Twitter account.
Our 33-year legacy deserves a genuine goodbye, written by a former Game Informer member.
We’re heartbroken by the shutdown of our publication, yet we leave with pride knowing we poured everything we had into it.
In the words of our editor-in-chief:
“Be well. Play well.”
Each of two images included in the post show a list of staff members and their corresponding positions.
Today’s post seems to suggest the message shared last Friday on social media and the website was not made by anyone on the Game Informer team.
As reported on Friday, the actual posts on the Game Informer website are no longer seen and instead show the same farewell message posted on August 2nd.
Game Informer’s X account says it does not exist anymore. Its Facebook is also not available anymore.
Many gamers are not satisfied with the sudden unavailability of the website’s content and its X account along with the layoff of the entire staff.
