The Game Awards 2024 was a fascinating event filled with exciting announcements and well-deserved accolades for the best in the gaming industry. Hosted by Geoff Keighley, the event celebrated its 10th anniversary at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
Astro Bot by Team Asobi/SIE was the big winner taking home four awards, including Game of the Year. Other notable winners included Balatro by LocalThunk/Playstack, which won three awards, and Metaphor: ReFantazio by Studio Zero/Atlus/Sega, which also secured three awards.
Square Enix and Team Asobi were the standout companies, each winning multiple awards. Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII Rebirth won for Best Score and Music, while Team Asobi’s Astro Bot triumphed in categories like Best Game Direction, Best Art Direction, and Best Audio Design.
The event also saw Black Myth: Wukong by Game Science winning Best Action Game, Helldivers 2 by Arrowhead Game Studios/SIE taking home Best Ongoing Game, and Neva by Nomada Studio/Devolver winning Best Independent Game.
The Game Awards 2024 delivered some exciting announcements like Naughty Dog’s new game Intergalactic and a sequel to Okami by Capcom.
