Via its website and social media, Nintendo announced the Nintendo Switch 2 scheduled to be released in 2025. Today became the day many fans had been waiting for. The reveal of the NS2 confirms that both physical and digital Nintendo Switch titles will be playable, though certain games may not be supported or fully compatible.
Nintendo did not reveal the technical details, but the first-look video shows a bigger screen and Joy-Con controllers, and a USB-C port on top. It seems like the Joy-Con controllers could also be used as a mouse for PCs.
The controllers can be attached to the console magnetically instead of sliding them as in the original Switch models. The console stand (base) is more circular in the top edges. Software-wise, a trailer of a new Mario Kart game was shown.
Nintendo announced the new Nintendo Direct for April 2 to introduce details of the new console along with the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience starting in New York and Paris on April 4, with other locations to follow.
Fans can sign up for the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience starting tomorrow Jan. 17 at noon PT time. A Nintendo Account is required to enter the randomly selected drawing. The NY event will take place at Center415.
