[EN]: Toshio Suzuki, producer at Studio Ghibli, revealed yesterday during NTV’s variety program Sekai-ichi Uketai Jugyo that Hayao Miyazaki is working on the serialization of a samurai manga.
During a conversation about Mr. Miyazaki after his retirement this past September, Mr. Suzuki said: “I think he will serialize a manga. From the beginning, he likes drawing about his favorite things. That’s his stress relief.”
The host of the TV show, Masaaki Sakai, asked: “Does he (Miyazaki) like sengoku jidai no chanbara (samurai stories from Japan’s Warring States Period)?”
The response by Suzuki was: “That’s what he is drawing now. He’ll get angry if I talk too much. Let’s stop talking about this.”
The co-founder of Studio Ghibli, Isao Takahata, has this to say about his longtime friend: “Miyazaki said ‘This time, I am serious,’ but I think there is a decent chance that may change. I think so, since I’ve known him a long time. Don’t be at all surprised if that happens.”
Even though Miyazaki will not be working as an anime film producer, it seems like he can’t live without drawing manga.
