The record label Data Disc will release the Streets of Rage 2 soundtrack on vinyl featuring original the work of legendary composer Yuzo Koshiro. The franchise, released originally for the 16-bit Sega Genesis console, became one of the most influential soundtracks of that gaming generation.
According to Data Discs, “the audio has been carefully remastered using multiple sources, including the original NEC PC-88 files supplied by Koshiro himself.”
The vinyl release will come with the following:
- Double LP in gatefold sleeve
- Four bonus tracks of demos, alternate versions and unused compositions
- 2 x lithographic prints featuring archival artwork
- Traditional OBI strip
- Fully remastered in collaboration with and approved by composer Yuzo Koshiro
The double LP will come in three editions:
- 2 x 180 g transparent vinyl with black smoke effect and blood splatter (limited edition, available exclusively from the Data Discs website) – £24.99
- 2 x 180 g transparent vinyl with black smoke effect – £24.99
- 2 x 180 g classic black vinyl – £22.99
Just last week, Sega gave away Streets of Rage 2 and other games via Steam. True fans of the franchise will want to pre-order the soundtrack starting this Saturday, February 27th. This is the fifth time Data Discs will bring the soundtrack of videogames to this format.
