Major Nelson announced in a post on Reddit that the Xbox One now supports backward compatibility for Xbox 360 multi-disc games, giving players more options to play games and the console more value.
Major Nelson wrote the following on Reddit: “I can confirm that the BC team has done work to support multi disc scenarios. Be sure to thank the BC engineers.”
Among the first Xbox 360 titles that make use of various discs: Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director’s Cut.
The company had previously mentioned last November that the recently-announced backward compatibility feature for Xbox 360 multi-disc games was technically impossible. A month later, a Microsoft representative said the company was working on such a feature.
This is great news for Xbox 360 fans who want to keep playing their games on the Xbox One. Sony should pay more attention to what gamers want and offer compatibility without the use of an online service.
