Sega’s 60th Anniversary celebration starts today with free retro-inspired mini games, heavy discounts, giveaways, interviews and much more, for the next two months.
From today to December 13, Sega will be giving away limited-time mini-games based on prototypes never released before to fan via Steam. Many games are already on sale with huge discounts, such as Bayonetta, Persona 4 Golden, Sonic Mania, Total War: Warhammer II, and Football Manager 2021.
Players can also get Nights into Dreams free for linking their Steam account with their email address at Sega’s 60th Anniversary site.
What was most unexpected was the mention of four games that will be available for a few days.
Golden Axed: A Cancelled Prototype (available Oct.18-19) was a work-in-progress title by Sega Studios Australia. This Sega branch was working on 2.5D reboots of Golden Axe, Streets of Rage and Altered Beast under the Sega Reborn Series. Unfortunately, the studio closed down in 2013. This Golden Axed prototype is just a single level.
Streets of Kamurocho (available from Oct. 17-19) brings characters Kiryu and Majima and others from Yakuza into the world of Streets of Rage.
Armor of Heroes (available from Oct. 15-19) offers 12 modes of “old-school tank battles” with “art and models from Relic Entertainment’s beloved Company of Heroes series.”
Endless Zone (available Oct. 16-19) is a homage to Sega’s Fantasy Zone. “Play through four worlds in frenetic arcade action as you help the hero, Opbot, evade aliens, enemies, and things from another dimension on their way to freedom!”
