Via social media, Square Enix announced the 1998 classic RPG game SaGa Frontier (サガ フロンティア) is returning in 2021 this time to various platforms as SaGa Frontier Remastered. Years before becoming Square Enix, the company then known as SquareSoft brought the title to the PlayStation 1 to Japan on July 11, 1997 and to the US on March 31, 1998 (with Sony Computer Entertainment America as publisher for the North American release).
The game, the seventh in its series, is known for its Free Scenario System, which lets players pick any of the seven main characters. Players have the freedom to take their chosen character to virtually any place and interact with virtually any character. Each character has his/her own storyline. Among them: Asellus, Blue, Emelia, Lute, Red, Riki, T260G, and new protagonist Fuse. The HD Remastered version will include events and cutscenes that were removed in the original release.
SaGa Frontier Remastered is coming Summer 2021 to PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Steam, Android and iOS.
