Sony announced today it will close the PlayStation Store for PS3 consoles on July 2nd and for PS Vita devices on August 27 of this year.
With the closure of the digital store for both devices, users will no longer be able to purchase downloadable games and content.
Sony will also remove the “remaining purchase functionality for PSP” on July 2nd.
Though there won’t be any more purchases after the mentioned dates, users will still be able to re-download digital titles and content purchased via PlayStation Store to their corresponding devices. Also, PSN wallet fund vouchers won’t be redeemable after the PS Store closes on PS3, PS Plus and PS Vita.
Fortunately, fans will still be able to re-download previously claimed titles for as long as they remain subscribers of PS Plus.
In addition, purchased video content will also be re-downloadable again onto the PS3, PS Plus and PS Vita.
