Epic Games has purchased ArtStation, a website that showcases work of artists in games, film, media and entertainment.
The platform is primarily used for artists of all levels to demonstrate and share their work. In ArtStation, users can showcase their portfolios and sell and list their products. Members can also post or apply for job opportunities and create own coupons.
Epic Games will let ArtStation work independently “while collaborating closely with the Unreal Engine team.”
Since Friday, Epic Games reduced the fees for ArtStation Marketplace from 30% down to 12%. A deduction also applies to Pro members (from 20% to 8%) and self-promoted sales (5%).
ArtStation Learning, the streaming video service for the community of artists, will be free for all members for the remainder of 2021.
This purchase comes almost two months after Epic Games acquired Tonic Games Group and Fall Guys developer Mediatonic.
