During a pre-recorded media briefing released today, Xbox announced its plans to take gaming to the masses everywhere.
Xbox head Phil Spencer and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and others informed viewers about the company’s plan for Xbox cloud gaming.
Xbox mentioned it is working with TV manufacturers worldwide to include Xbox Game Pass on smart TVs. The service will let people play games without the need for a console. Only an Xbox controller would be required. In order to achieve this service effectively, a strong broadband connection would be required. Microsoft officially announced it is also working on its own game streaming stick.
The cloud gaming services will be arriving within the new few weeks for subscribers of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. This upcoming feature will work with well-known browsers, including iOS’ Safari (via a progressive web app).
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will also arrive to subscribers in countries such as Japan, Mexico, Brazil and Australia.
PC users will also be able to make use of cloud gaming using the Xbox app. With this feature, fans will be able to try titles without downloading them.
To reach more users worldwide, Xbox is planning to take Xbox All Access to other countries. The program allows users to make monthly payments of $25 for two years for a new Xbox Series console and a Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
Microsoft is also planning to release at least one new first-party title on Xbox Game Pass every quarter.
“Gaming is fundamentally aligned with our mission as a company,” said Nadella in the pre-recorded media briefing. “When you talk about Xbox’s mission to bring the joy and community of gaming to everyone on the planet, which I absolutely love, that is precisely aligned with Microsoft’s mission, which is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more.”
This presentation was just a preview of things to come for the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase scheduled for June 14 at 1pm ET.
