Six new titles made their debut in the Japan game sale charts for the week of August 22-28, 2022, including Earth Defense Force 6.
During its first four days of launch, Earth Defense Force 6 sold 68,341 PS4 copies and 24,363 PS5 copies of the game, for a total of 92,704 copies sold. Known in Japan as 地球防衛軍 (Chikyuu Boeigun), Earth Defense Force is a series of third-person shooter games published by D3 Publisher. A tweet posted on September 1 says this title is the fastest (in terms of sales) in the history of the EDF franchise with 300,000 copies sold.
The action RPG game SD Gundam Battle Alliance landed in second place with 38,634 Switch copies, 17,950 PS4 copies, and 9,625 PS5 copies for a total of 66,209 copies sold.
Soul Hackers 2 is a turn-based RPG game published and developed by Atlus. It’s the fifth title of the Devil Summoner series. It made its debut with 31,604 PS4 copies and 20,257 PS5 copies sold, for a total of 51,861 copies sold.
Meanwhile, Saint’s Row appeared in the charts in ninth place with 10,013 PS4 copies and in 12th place with 7,622 PS5 copies sold. This version is a reboot of the series that started originally in 2006 created by Volition.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge recently made its Switch debut in Japan landing in 17th with 4,365 copies sold.
The simulation/visual novel game Idol Manager, published by Playism, closes the list of new titles in the Top 30 with 1,872 Switch copies sold. It was also released for PS4 and PS5. The console version comes about 13 months after the launch of the Steam version.
