Masayasu Ito, a veteran hardware architect for Sony PlayStation, will leave his position on October 1, Sony told Bloomberg News.
Though 60-year-old Executive VP of Sony Interactive Entertainment will leave this position next month, he will continue as an executive adviser for SIE’s Platform Experience Group until March 2023. Ito will also continue working in the Mobility division.
Ito, who joined the Tokyo-based corporation in 1986, initially worked on in-car audio equipment before shifting to the console division in 2000. He is retiring from Sony after a career spanning five decades there. During his time at PlayStation, he played an important role in engineering the PS4, PSVR, and PS5.
Current Deputy President Lin Tao will replace Ito.
